From planning and design to construction and materials, we'll walk you through every step of the process to help you replace or install your siding.

Step 4: Install Your Flashing

When you have a stone skirt on the house and siding is installed above it, you must use metal flashing.

Flashings are typically made up-on site using aluminum flat-stock and profiling it using a brake. A brake is a metal bending tool that most installers own, or you can rent one at your local tool rental store.

Other metals required for siding are starter strip, vented L strips, and J trim. All products are readily available. The starter strip is installed before the base row of siding and above all windows and doors. This allows you to ensure that everything is nice and level before you begin.
